Dr. Demirkan is a European Board Certified plastic surgeon in Istanbul, Turkey. He has been an academic surgeon mastering both reconstructive and aesthetic procedures and has trained many young plastic surgery residents. He is one of the founders of the Turkish Board of Plastic Surgery and had extensive contributions to the Turkish Society of Plastic Surgery. Being a passionate enthusiast of excellence, made him pursue the best education for himself.
He had fellowships with pioneering surgeons in the world like Dr. Maria Siemionow, who performed the first face transplantation in the US, and Dr. Fu-Chan Wei, a legendary microsurgeon in Asia. Later, he became one of the few surgeons who performed hand and face transplants in Turkey. He has more than 100 international publications and several book chapters published. He organized many national and international meetings, and he is a founder member of the World Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery and The International Academy of Oral Oncology. He has memberships in several other Turkish and International Societies.
